XMRV and The Immune System

Since the announcement that XMRV may be linked to chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia as a cause, one of the first comments I heard was, "Good. Now maybe they can make a drug to help us." One individual even went as far as to say that he would not mind being a guinea pig, no matter what the side effects of the drug were just as long as he gets some type of relief. He even stated that if death was a side effect of the drug, he would...

gladly take it since what he is going through isn't much better.

Comments like that really break my heart. Fibromyalgia sufferers have been so victimized. They are in enough pain already and then most fibromyalgia sufferers have lost all hope going to the doctor and actually dread going because of how those doctors treat them.

Well it is time to forget about the doctors giving you hope and time to start making your own hope! Whether XMRV is the culprit in fibromyalgia or not, the point is that you need to take control of your symptoms and do whatever it takes to get back to the basics of health. Of course, it is easier said than done, but with little bit of encouragement and being shown what to do, you can do it.

Begin with the simple things. Drink more water, take deeper breaths, cut out sugar, and do what you can to reduce stress. Once you can master those the right way, you can move on to exercise and changing your diet.

Whatever you do to get back to the basics of health, you, as a sufferer of fibromyalgia, need to do it correctly. Just listening to your neighbor tell you what her doctor said about her health problems, may not be the best advice for you.

In any event, getting back to the basics of health won't only help relieve your fibromyalgia symptoms, it'll help strengthen your immune system so you won't need to be as concerned with XMRV. Once you have fibromyalgia, your focus should be on overcoming your symptoms and not as much on what caused it.

With that being said, if XMRV is found to be the cause of chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia, and it will take many years and a lot of studies to determine that, it may take a number of years before any effective medicine is developed. Go ahead and start now with the easy steps of getting back to the basics of health and then keep building on those so you will feel wonderful by the time the absolute cause of fibromyalgia is found!
