A Stitch In Time

The old saying “a stitch in time saves nine” is very true. One stitch now can save nine stitches later just like a step in the right direction toward health now can save a lot of problems later.

Knowing which step to take and which direction is the right way might mean getting a little help, but the benefits can prolong your health. See, as a society we get so caught up in the little things that sometimes we don’t step back and look at the big picture. A box of cereal bars will say “no trans fats” so you look at it and think it must be healthy since it doesn’t have that horrible trans fat in it. However, stepping back from the box you’ll realize that a plain piece of fruit, either an apple or a banana, from the produce section would be a much healthier choice and just as convenient. A health coach can really get you to see that and live by healthier choices.

Continuously eating those artificially good for you products can cause various health problems later. The sooner those products are left on the shelf in the store the sooner you can begin to reclaim your health.

Also, saying that you really enjoy those artificially good for you products is only an excuse. Stop trading some enjoyment now for a host of problems later. The easiest way to combat this issue is to plan your meals and go grocery shopping one day a week. Make sure you go when you have a level head, are not craving anything, and are on task with getting only what is on your list. You are much more likely to make healthier choices you can follow through on at home.

Once you start on the way toward health, you will realize you feel more energized, happier and enjoy life more.

We all get lazy.

The problem with being lazy is that things just don’t take care of themselves. Georgia has been in a drought for a few years now so I didn’t really think much of it when a few shingles flew off of my roof. Admittedly, I was lazy and didn’t put it high on my priority list even when we would get some light rain and my ceiling got a little spot on it.

Now ignoring my ceiling changing color was honestly stupid. When Tropical Storm Faye came through and brought over three inches of rain to my area, that little spot grew tremendously and started dripping in my bedroom. YIKES.

Yes, I called the roofer then and had it fixed within a few hours. Now I need to fix my ceiling. If I only called when those shingles came off…

The moral is… take care of your health now. You never know when a simple little thing can end up wrecking havoc in your life. It is much easier to take care of the seemingly small things than it is to turn around and say, “Why didn’t I just take care of that a long time ago so I wouldn’t be in this mess.”
