Don’t Be Number 1 or Number 2

Cancer fluctuates between the number 1 and the number 2 killer in the United States. Please stay away from being a statistic in this category. There are many simple things you can do to take control of your health now in order to boost your immune system to do its best to fight off cancer.

  • First and foremost reduce stress in your life and resolve any past issues that may be contributing to that stress. If you need help, please seek council. The CDC has stated that as many as 85% of diseases are caused by emotions so make sure yours are positive.

  • Give yourself a daily dose of natural vitamin D by going out in the sun when it is not real strong. If you can expose yourself unprotected to 20 minutes of natural sunlight every day you can maintain natural vitamin D levels. Recent research is showing how vitamin D deficiency is related to different cancers and other ailments. Protect yourself now by “going unprotected”.

  • Exercise regularly. There are way too many benefits of exercise to list here, but exercise a minimum of 3 times a week can give an incredible boost to your immune system to help fight off a multitude of problems.

  • Eat as many vegetables as you are comfortable with. Vegetables are naturally packed with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Just looking at the “contents” of vegetables is discouraging since those labels don’t include all of the micronutrients each vegetable contains. The nutrients in those vegetables really help build up an army in your immune system to keep those unwanted illnesses at bay.

  • Get enough good quality sleep every night. Sleeping allows your body to rejuvenate and heal. Don’t deprive your body of this act because the results can be very destructive.

You can either have the attitude that if something goes wrong with you a cure will be waiting or you can take action now to adopt a healthy lifestyle and avoid problems later on in life.

 The Good Life

Think of a healthy lifestyle as “the good life” instead of a chore or something you have to do. One of the easiest ways to decide if something is healthy for you or if you can get benefit from it is to think about how people lived before the industrial revolution. Growing organic vegetables in their own garden, eating fresh meats, preparing their own meals with fresh ingredients was the norm. They also traveled by horse and carriage or foot most of the time. Not that those methods of transportation are always practical in today’s day and age, but we can add more exercise into our lifestyle. Just think, there was no TV or video games or even computers so they stayed active all of the time. They slept when the sun went down and woke when it came up. Apply some of these methods with a modern twist and you will achieve “the good life” and greatly benefit.
