Will You Finish It?
With many of us attempting to improve our lives by making changes in our lifestyle, we are finding ourselves slipping back into our comfort zones. Yes, we like our comfort zones, thus the name, but our comfort zones can keep us from following through with a goal we want to achieve.
Let’s say, for argument sake, that I want to work out every day. I know that morning time right after I get out of bed is the best and most convenient time for my schedule to work out. This tells me I need to wake up an hour earlier than normal to accomplish this task. However, I love to sleep. If I do wake up an hour earlier and work out for a week then stay up real late one night, what are the chances I will wake up early the next morning?
Well, the answer depends on the reason for my working out every day. If the answer is because I was told it was healthy so I should do it or if I feel like working out hasn’t given me any benefits yet, I will surely remain in bed. If the answer is because I want to lose weight for spring and I am almost at my goal, or if I just really enjoy working out, or even if I am in a competition with my husband to see who can work out the most in one week, I am likely to wake up and work out.
When we set a goal we need to look within ourselves to see if it is achievable. If you know it is something you want and it is achievable, then you will likely be able to overcome the obstacles that you will encounter in your mission to achieve this goal.
If you haven’t heard the latest on goals, you soon will. The latest craze in goal setting is setting goals that are SMART…
Specific Measurable Attainable Realistic Timely
Remember, that if you didn’t achieve a goal, you found a result, you didn’t fail. Just figure out what didn’t work, fix it, and try again. Your health IS that important.J
