Points To Ponder

We become so accustomed to hearing something over and over and thinking, “I know that”. But once in a while something will be said to us differently and new light will be shed that makes us think. What we do with those thoughts can sometimes change our lives. Try thinking of the following questions in a new way. You may want to do your own research on them to see if the beliefs you hold are true!

• When does cancer start? Is it when the first cell becomes abnormal? But what if your white blood cells get rid of the abnormal cell, then is it still cancer or is your body just working normally?

• What really is diabetes? Is it a problem with blood sugar, insulin, sugar intake or other hormones within the body going awry? Why can diabetes cause blindness and amputation of limbs? How effective are exercise and significant dietary changes in changing diabetes? If those changes are effective, what changes really work?

• What is cholesterol? Why is cholesterol so bad for us, but our own body makes it? Are exercise and nutritional changes effective in lowering cholesterol? Is there really a link between high cholesterol and heart disease? What is the difference between HDL and LDL?

• What are toxins? Were do they come from? How do they affect your health? Do toxins create disease processes in the body? How easy is it to get toxins out of your body?

Well here are just some points to ponder. Please don’t just say, “Oh, I know that.” Do some research and educate yourself on the “other” side to have an informed basis for your decisions. What you realize may surprise you!

Past beliefs that have been questioned…

Bloodletting (or blood-letting) is the withdrawal of often considerable quantities of blood from a patient in the belief that this would cure or prevent illnesses and diseases.

Surgical handwashing
Ignac Semmelweis discovered that washing hands between performing an autopsy and delivering a child could drastically reduce childbed fever. He was severely ostracized.

Lobotomy
The idea behind psychosurgery, later proven to be invalid, was that these nerves were somehow malformed or damaged, and if they were severed they might regenerate into new, healthy connections.
