Posture Perfect

Are you sitting at your computer the proper way? You spine and your health are depending on you to take a little bit of action and sit the right way while working at your computer. Here is a rundown to make sure you are on the right track at your computer station…

  • Your eye should be between 20 to 40 inches away from the computer screen. Adjust the location of your monitor by moving it back if necessary. If you have no room to move your monitor, a flat screen monitor may be a great investment.

  • Keep your monitor directly in front of you unless you are working with printed materials. Then be sure to keep the printed materials in front of you close to your monitor.

  • The center of the computer monitor should normally be located 15 to 20 degrees below horizontal eye level so put the top of your monitor slightly below eye level. Elevate yourself by raising your chair, but be sure to keep your feet supported.

  • Keep your monitor perpendicular to your line of sight. Be aware that tilting your monitor upward can create a glare and cause you to try to avoid it by assuming an awkward posture.

  • A clean monitor will reduce strain you put on your eyes so clean your monitor regularly.

Incorporating these tips should help you prevent any computer posture issues. We all know how our posture affects our health so keep doing your posture corrective exercises every day to keep your posture in line.
