Your Natural Curves

God truly made a masterpiece when he made the spine with its interlocking movable vertebrae. These vertebrae are formed so that they protect the delicate nerves in the spinal cord, while still allowing them to branch off and feed every organ and cell in our body. The beauty of the spine as seen when viewing it from the side is in its curves.

It is in the curves of the spine that we get some of our weight bearing capabilities and mobility. These three curves were designed to be between 34 to 43 degrees to absorb the impact of walking, running and moving around. However, we abuse these curves through our everyday activities and change their structure. Sitting incorrectly at a computer for a prolonged period of time, sleeping with too many pillows, or being involved in an accident (sometimes even a simple one) are some of the activities that can throw the curve of your spine out from the ideal 34 to 43 degree ideal.

Having the curve of your spine within the ideal range can significantly decrease many symptoms caused by improper biomechanics. For instance, headache occurrences and severity go down and most times even stop after a patient regains their curve. Patients have also reported being happier, able to concentrate better, able to move better and able to sleep better after they regained their curve.

Getting your curve within the ideal range takes a commitment, but it is a simple process and well worth the time. Dr. Hendricksen has different methods available for you to choose from, but you would need to decide which one is the one you would be willing to stick with to bring your curve into the ideal range. The benefits of a fully functioning spine are truly amazing.

Finding out if your curve is in the ideal range…

With some individuals it is obvious that their curve is way outside of the ideal range just by the observing their movements and analyzing their posture, however that isn’t the case with everyone.

With individuals who do not fall into the “obvious” range, x-rays are taken to determine just how far from ideal their curve is.

Once the measurements are determined, a program for full curve restructuring can then be implemented. Results can usually be seen within a few short weeks of performing curve corrective exercises consistently!
