EBV and fibro

Why do most people with fibromyalgia start off with the EBV virus or at least a lot of people?

There was once a theory that EBV caused fibromyalgia. Now there is a theory that XMRV causes fibromyalgia because a high percentage of fibromyalgia sufferers tested for XMRV have the virus. At this point, there is just a correlation, not a causal factor.
Upper Cervical Care

Can upper cervical care help cure the affects of fibromyalgia?
Upper cervical care

It depends. If you are talking about upper cervical chiropractic care or curve restoration of the cervical spine, then it can definately help the symptoms of fibromyaliga.

However, if you are getting upper cervical care from someone other than chiropractor, I honestly can't comment unless I know who it is and what they are doing.

And, if you are receiving upper cervical care from a chiropractor, but your visits are frequent (three times a day) it is too much and may end up aggravating your fibromyalgia in the end.

Upper cervical care is a winner for fibromyalgia if you do it the right way.
Is brain fog age related?
Posted Tuesday, 03 November 2009 By jldjjd
I just don't know whether this 'brain fog' I am constantly in is fibro related. It seems to be getting worse and it is affecting my work. My pain doesn't seem to be worse at the moment but this is really troubling me. Maybe it's just old age.
Is brain fog age related?

There are some instances when brain fog can be age related. However, fibro fog is not from brain deterioration so if your brain fog is fibromyalgia related, then it can be reversed.

Medications are also a reason to get brain fog. If you are really having a tough time with the brain fog and are taking any type of medication talk to your doctor AND read the insert in your prescriptions with the little print and it will tell you all about the adverse effects to expect for that drug. If you are able to get off of that prescription, then your brain fog may clear up.

Make sure you are getting good sleep at night also. Lack of sleep will make anyone foggy headed, fibromyalgia or not!
SAD or Fibro?

My fibromyalgia always gets worse during the fall and winter months. I do not believe it is a separate issue of Seasonal Depression Disorder because this cycle developed over the past ten years only. I have a very difficult time sleeping at night and therefore fall asleep all afternoon. I find this is making just about any social or outdoor activities nearly impossible.

The colder weather can affect your pain levels. You may want to consider getting a vitamin D test to check your levels. If they are low, consider supplementation. This may help during the fall and winter months.

As far as sleeping, try (I understand the difficulty) to stay up and not go to bed until a certain time. Then get up at a certain time also. Keep the schedule to train your body when to sleep. So many factors are tied into sleep so really focus on your lifestyle and make sure you are doing the right things the right way to help.

Fatigue and Stress
Posted Tuesday, 03 November 2009 By TTW9659
One of my biggest problems besides the pain is the extreme fatigue I experience. I have no energy and at it's worst I feel as if I have been drugged, it makes me physically sick. Do you have any suggestions? Do they think stress is a trigger for making symptoms worse?
